A Successful New Collaboration with Well Newham
We recently worked with Well Newham to deliver a health awareness event for tenants aged 55 and over across the estate. This was a taster event and it was very well received.
Representatives at the event included the NHS health screening team, bowel cancer outreach clinicians, a nutrition health professional, and staff offering diabetes checks and monitoring. There was also information available on bowel screening for both women and men, alongside support from Nutrition Kitchen.
Although attendance was a small group, tenants were extremely positive about the experience. What was particularly encouraging was the feedback from the professionals themselves, who commented on how welcoming Ruscoe Road was, how well organised the event felt, and how engaged tenants were. Residents asked questions, shared valuable feedback, and took part in one‑to‑one conversations about their health and wellbeing.
This event has helped to build a strong partnership, and we are really looking forward to working together again. We are hoping to welcome the Nutrition Kitchen back to Ruscoe Road in May to run a 12‑week cooking course. If you are interested, please contact the office to add your name to our list.
We run a busy calendar of free community activities at the community hall at 55 Ruscoe Road, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers and in partnership with local charities and with funding from the National Lottery. You can check the latest schedule here.
