Violet and Kingsley Step In
When a resident recently succeeded his late father’s tenancy, he found himself facing unexpected financial challenges. Due to under‑occupation of the home, significant rent arrears had built up on his account — a stressful situation for anyone to navigate.
Housing Manager Violet and Senior Income Officer Kingsley stepped in to offer dedicated, practical support, working closely with the resident to resolve the tenancy succession issues and ensured he was receiving the correct financial assistance. This included helping him successfully claim Universal Credit, as well as submitting an application for a Discretionary Housing Payment. The application was approved, providing crucial support to clear the outstanding arrears and stabilise his situation.
Thanks to the team’s compassionate and proactive approach, the resident is now in a much more secure position, with both his tenancy and finances back on track. This case highlights the vital role frontline staff play in supporting residents through challenging transitions and ensuring they can remain safely in their homes, and indeed the importance of contacting us if you find yourself struggling. Well done to Violet, and Kingsley, pictured below!
