Ruscoe Road Activity Updates

In July 2025, 55 Ruscoe Road hosted a string of painting events, culminating in a summer party to raise funds for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). The charity holds a special place in the team’s hearts, as one colleague has been living with an eye condition for the past year. The aim was not only to support the RNIB but also to show residents that everyone sees things differently through the creation of community artwork.

The events proved a roaring success, with some talented artists emerging from the group - so good, in fact, that the team wanted to showcase their work to boost fundraising. Merchandise featuring the community paintings was created for the summer party, including decorative tea towels and calendars. From the painting sessions to the summer party, the team has raised over £675 for the RNIB. This will help fund RNIB’s six-month sight-loss confidence course, assisting people to regain their confidence.

The summer party featured a Beatles tribute band, along with a lively quiz, group games, a raffle, and prize giveaways. Well done to everyone at Ruscoe for a fantastic initiative and for supporting a worthwhile cause! There are weekly events happening all the time at 55 Ruscoe Road:

Craft group: we have a dedicated small group of ladies who attend on a weekly basis.  The group does specific art projects such as painting by numbers, decoupage, wreath making and many more.  We are always looking to grow this group which comes together every Wednesday from 12 to 3pm.  If you’re interested, please pop in and give it a try.

Chair exercise: this group meets every Wednesday from 9.30 and 10.30am to do gentle chair exercise for those aged 55 plus. We have watched this group grow, which is fantastic.  Come along and join in!

Time Together Thursday: this is a new group that starts from Thursday 23rd October 2025, from 12 to 2pm. Time Together Thursday is a group of people who want a comfortable space to play board games, puzzles, read and chit-chat.

Digital Support: this group meets every Friday from 10.30 to 12.30pm.  If you want to improve your computer skills, phone skills, learn about avoiding scams and to generally be safe whilst online this group is for you!
