Ruscoe Road Update
We run a busy calendar of free community activities at the community hall at 55 Ruscoe Road, run by a small team of staff and dedicated volunteers, and in partnership with local charities and Aspers Group Ltd.
Since June, St Luke’s Church has been running an 8-week CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Life Skills Course every Friday morning at 55 Ruscoe Road. This community-focused group brings people together to learn practical life skills in a supportive and relaxed environment.
Each session is led by trained coaches and covers topics like how to eat well on a budget, make your money go further, and grow in confidence when making everyday decisions. Participants are equipped with helpful tools relating to budgeting, money-saving, and living well, all while building relationships with like-minded individuals.
Our mornings begin with a shared breakfast and refreshments, followed by interactive discussions, a session of cooking together, games, and light exercise to support physical wellbeing; it’s not just about learning—it’s about creating community, growing confidence, and supporting one another through real, everyday challenges.
Our Chair Exercise Group continues to grow, and we welcome along residents aged 55+ to join this group on a Wednesday morning from 9.30-10.30am: gentle chair exercise in a lovely location. Participants stay on for a little chat before heading home.
Our Digital Elders Group has been coming together on a Monday for the past few months. Due to some changes, the group has now moved to Fridays, 10.30-12.30pm. In a friendly environment, the group teaches you how to be safe online with your digital devices, improving your computer skills and learning at your own pace.
